On 9/10/07 the boys had their first day of preschool. (actually they missed their first week because we were in Williamsburg). They love school and were going to have the same teachers that they had in the 3 year old program, Mrs. McClellan and Ms. Joann. Eric and I both took them to school, took pictures and wished them a great day. Eric left for a dentist appointment and I went to the grocery store.
Around 10:30am I left to go to the scapbooking store before picking up the boys (they were having a sale!) Only a few blocks from my house I was in a car accident. I'm not going to go into details on the Internet, but a lady made a left turn in front of me taking away my right away. Immediately after the accident I started having trouble breathing, and my neck hurt. A witness stopped and was able to find my cell phone on the floor. I was able to call Eric, he was just leaving the dentist office. Poor Eric, evidently my call went something like "I've been in an accident, my neck is hurt and I can't really breathe....click" I don't remember hanging up on him, but I was a little out of it and I know I was shaking. Immediately after hanging up with him, poor Connie calls. I answer and just say I've been in an accident and will have to call you back.
Eric shows up (probably seconds later) as I'm being put into the ambulance. I make sure he has my camera and tell him to ask the firefighters about the car seats to see if they are OK. He is able to get a hold of his brother Bruce, Bruce shows up at the accident scene and is able to take the Jeep to school and pick up the kids. He just tells the kids that mom and dad are running a few errand--what do the kids care---they get to play with Uncle Bruce. Eric meets me at the hospital where I'm basically treated and released.
I finally call Connie back who has been frantic during this time. She has seen on the news where there has been a terrible accident in Annapolis involving a fatality. Luckily she is able to talk to Bruce, so she found Ok that I was not in that terrible accident.
I think I slept for 2 days with all the medicine I was on. The boys were great, they thought it was pretty cool that the van got to ride on a tow truck. We now have a rental van, they think that's pretty cool too.
I am still recovering, I seem to be getting better, but I'm sure it will take time.
